Having battery charging problems on a 1990 toyota truck. Anybody have any ideas on the problem
Changed the alternator and the battery is still on which is suppose to
indicate a battery charging problem.The motor is idleing fast and slow
fast and slow in a rhythem pattern.The part store put it on the scope and
claimed the alternator is working fine.
I have an 85 that probably has the same basic wiring excluding
the fuel injection. I found a small ''strap'' connector between fuses on
the fuse block that was corroded and keeping my charge light on. If I
remember right, it was on the top right hand side of the fuse block. I
don't know or want to know what it does but 295,000 miles and still
ticking. You can not beat them Toyotas.
Sounds like the idle control system.
Systems cleaner may fix it, but I think it will either take an idle
control motor and or valve.
if you have fuel injection, then you have a vacuum leak in the
fuel system
weird idle problems are usually not electrical they are fuel related, and
this seems to be your problem.
Did you explain the Problem to them? Do they know What they are
Doing? ''Doesn't Sound like it!'' Major Tune-Up, Full Fuel System Service
and Adjustments, Check All Belts and make sure your Idle Speed is at a
Constant 650 to 750 RPMs and that should fix it.
You might want to make sure that the cables are ok , if they
are i would have the battery tested also ,,, anytime you are working and
even suspect a problem with the battery please where safety glasses.I can
not stress this enough for your own protection...I've had them explode on
me before , be careful with battery's. good luck
